ABOUT PLANETSTORM
Planetstorm began as a prototype for a mod of the Unreal Tournament 2004 engine, but eventually faded as we spent more time on other AFF projects. With the arrival of UT3 we began work revamping and completing it for the next generation.
You may have seen many of the models used in planetstorm in our various galleries, and yes, theyre the exact same ones used in our homeworld mods and in Treeform's AFF MMORTS - The Second Antarean War (http://dev.aff2aw.com/index.html)
We have a talented and professional art team who have been working all our stuff up to ut3 standard for over a year, and there's an even mix of old and new assets going in.
Although the features and gameplay of Planetstorm are for the most place old ideas such as spawn wave timers, loadout screens, assault objectives, we feel there is much new ground in bringing these all together in a polished manner, taking proven ideas and trying them into a complete game experience.
One feature which is new however is the way we do space, and large spacecraft. Each ship gets its own internal map and the space "vehicles" are controlled from that as if you were existing inside them. This leaves us scope for boarding engagements, damage from space combat being represented in first person inside the ships, being able to operate various ship systems and many other cool things.
We have yet to explore our system fully in the current v1.00 release but we fully intend to take things to the limit of cool.
We are working hard to fix these things and make planetstorm fun and stable. Help us out by posting bug reports on our forums (please be sensible about this and try to keep reports brief and useful. include a log if you had a crash)
